Tips For A Perfect Retro Makeup
A simple retro makeup is always a good choice. Why? Because it can be made to fit any situation, any occasion and any outfit. There’s no makeup I can think of, besides no-makeup makeup, that can be as versatile as the black eyeliner + red lips makeup.
Assuming you are comfortable with applying eyeliner quickly and easily; this is one makeup that can be applied within 15 minutes to fit a wedding.
I will not go through the step by step process of retro makeup, because it is too obvious and simple. But here are a few tips to pull it perfectly:
1- You will not have much going on in your makeup, so nothing will divert attention from your skin. Make sure your skin is flawless: Your dark circle are well covered, your imperfections concealed and your countouring products perfectly blended.
2- Do not leave your eyelids completely naked. Instead, use a light champagne pink eyeshadow to give a glow to the eyelid from the lashes line to the eyebrows.
3- Do countour your face, but let it be very subtle. Sharp face countouring with red lips will give you everything but a natural look.
4- Focus on your eyebrows and on your lashes, try to strike the balance between dramatic and natural, at well done but not excessive.
5- By all means keep the whole look matte. Red and shiny do not function well together if you are planning to look elegant and sophisticated.
6- Use a light bronzer with a very very natural effect. Keep your heavier bronzers for the dramatic summer and sun looks; retro looks are on the other side of the spectrum.
7- Use a real red color that’s neither too dark nor orange-red. The classic retro look is based on a true red pout that’s center staged. Now that all other elements are downplayed, make sure you get the right red for your star element.
